File Requirements

These file requirments are for customers who wish to provide thier own ready-to-use designs. We can work with just about anything you send to us, but any artwork that does not meet these requirements will likely require us to spend extra time to get your artwork ready to go.

We occasionally recieve layouts that were prepared using programs like Microsoft Word or Publisher. We can view these files, but we will have to recreate them in our software in order to be able to do anything with them. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us!

Vector Artwork

All text should be converted to curves.

Strokes (thick lines) should be outlined so that the file consists only of fills. If you must use strokes, be sure to include a PDF proof with your file.

For digital printing CMYK color is preferred, except for specific spot colors that need to be matched. These should be picked from your application's PMS library. Color matching will require proofing and an additional charge.

Adobe Illustrator CS (.ai), Corel Draw 9 (.cdr), Sign Lab 7 (.cdl), EPS, and PDF files accepted. We can accept files created in any version of these programs up to the version listed. More recent versions of Illustrator and Corel Draw will have options to save files as an earlier version.

If possible, LINK to bitmaps placed into vector files. Include the linked bitmap files when sending the vector file.

In the past we have recieved a few digital printing jobs that were created in programs like Adobe InDesign and Quark. We can not work with these files, and they are not particularly well suited to the task. If you are using a program like this, it is probably best to export the final design as a bitmap. Exporting a PDF vector file is another option, and prefered if color matching is going to be needed.

Bitmap Artwork

Bitmap files should only be submitted for digital printing jobs. If you need to use a bitmap file for a screen printing job, it must be either monochrome (600ppi @ actual size) or grayscale (300ppi @ actual size). Bitmap files can not be used for cut vinyl jobs.

TIFF files are accepted in both CMYK, RGB, Grayscale, and Monochrome color modes.

JPEG files are also accepted but only in RGB and Grayscale. Be sure to save the JPEG file at the maximum quality (minimum compression).

Files must have a minimum resolution of 100ppi at actual size. For example a 30” x 30” print must print from a file measuring least 3000 pixels x 3000 pixels. (If your artwork does not meet the minimum resolution requirements, avoid simply resizing it in your photo editing software. We have software specifically suited to that task.)
